7-Segment LED Display Light Guides, MENTOR
This family of light guides, from MENTOR, are designed to create a 7-segment display. Unlike conventional 7-segment displays, this family does not include integrated LEDs, enabling the user to create individual display colours. They are suitable for use with the CHIPLED 0603 series from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, including bi-colour and RGB LEDs.
The opaque housing consists of multiple chambers and transparent optical fibres to the display segment. Joining the 7-segment displays together can be used for a sequence of numbers, making them ideal for keypad applications.
Assembly of the 7-segment display light guides involves mounting the chosen LEDs onto the PCB, followed by the light guide onto the PCB. This modular design allows individual replacement of LEDs if required.
